About
In 2009, we joined the UK Coach Industry’s most elite operators by becoming one of only 38 in the country to be awarded the Coach Marque accredited by the Confederation of Passenger Transport in recognition of the quality and consistency of our services. in 2018 we were one of only 11 foundung members of the DVSA's EARNED RECOGNITION scheme for coach operators
Before the award, we’ve always kept our services customer-focused, with a dedication to providing the same quality services and long-standing family beliefs that Robert McGill Scott had, in 1961.
It was Robert who started Stanley Taxis (as we were known back then), with two cars in a wooden hut, more than 50 years ago. Since then, our family business has grown considerably, but we remain the same people at heart. With over 75 vehicles and employing more than 70 people, Stanley Travel – as we’re known today – is the largest taxi operator and one of the major employers in the North Durham region.
During the time of our ever-expanding company, we’ve become an ‘umbrella’ company for our travel brands – Stanley Taxis, Stanley Coaches, Stanley Fleetserve and The Bike Bus – all of which operate under the Stanley Travel parent company name.
We pride ourselves on only ever using high class, quality vehicles from respected manufacturers, alongside trained and qualified staff who are equally respected, reliable and dedicated to ensuring the expectations of our customers are met, if not exceeded. Our sole aim is to provide the “personal touch” – often so lacking in the transport and travel industry – to all of our customers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

"We used Stanley Travel for a family trip with numerous pick up points to Tomahawk in town for a celebration meal. Our driver Tony was an absolute gem, he was friendly, courteous and took absolute care of all of the party members including those not so good on their feet. I would not hesitate to recommend this company for any trips you may be looking to hire them for as their care is second to none. Tony is an absolute assett to the company and we were blown away by his people skills and his wonderful personality. My sister whos anniversary we were celebrating was absolutely thrilled with how seamless the journey was every single pick up and drop off was timed to perfection. I cannot thank Tony enough for making this occasion go to plan and making it special for all of us. Thank you Stanley Travel."

"We booked a home to airport transfer for a group of us going on holiday. Both the pick up and return journeys were faultless .. punctual, smooth and hassle free. Both drivers were very friendly, accommodating and smartly dressed. There were children in our party, so we brought car seats with us that easily fit onto the seats and were kept safe for the return journey. The coach was very clean and tidy."
