About
In 2009, we joined the UK Coach Industry’s most elite operators by becoming one of only 38 in the country to be awarded the Coach Marque accredited by the Confederation of Passenger Transport in recognition of the quality and consistency of our services. in 2018 we were one of only 11 foundung members of the DVSA's EARNED RECOGNITION scheme for coach operators
Before the award, we’ve always kept our services customer-focused, with a dedication to providing the same quality services and long-standing family beliefs that Robert McGill Scott had, in 1961.
It was Robert who started Stanley Taxis (as we were known back then), with two cars in a wooden hut, more than 50 years ago. Since then, our family business has grown considerably, but we remain the same people at heart. With over 75 vehicles and employing more than 70 people, Stanley Travel – as we’re known today – is the largest taxi operator and one of the major employers in the North Durham region.
During the time of our ever-expanding company, we’ve become an ‘umbrella’ company for our travel brands – Stanley Taxis, Stanley Coaches, Stanley Fleetserve and The Bike Bus – all of which operate under the Stanley Travel parent company name.
We pride ourselves on only ever using high class, quality vehicles from respected manufacturers, alongside trained and qualified staff who are equally respected, reliable and dedicated to ensuring the expectations of our customers are met, if not exceeded. Our sole aim is to provide the “personal touch” – often so lacking in the transport and travel industry – to all of our customers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

"Original pick up time was 9am but changed to 8.30 am which was on final booking documentation. People were at 1st pickup for 8 30am. When bus didn't arrive within 5 mins they contacted the office only to be told 1st pickup was showing as 9am. The office contacted the driver and rang back to advise bus was on the way. Return journey was ok, bus was waiting."
